Thanks Dawn for hosting our guild this month! It was a great meeting.
Amber shared her experience from the Dog Kennel Quilt show, where she began a beautiful appliqued wall hanging. We will watch for her finished project. She also showed us the finished quilt she co-quilted with a few others for a friend with breast cancer. I'm sure it will be a wonderful reminder of how much she is loved and supported as she goes through this difficult time.
Angie won the drawing for the camp fat squares this month. Sorry the photographer forgot to take a picture. Congratulations Angie!
The first item for the meeting was to finalize the time for our monthly meeting. We'll begin at 7PM on the third Tuesday of the month.
We also decided to set a time for a work meeting each month which will be the first Tuesday of the month at 9AM at Vicki's. October 5th we will be making pillowcases to contribute to the Million Pillowcases Service Organization. Everyone should bring 3/4 yard fabric for the main part of the pillowcase, 1/3 yd for the cuff and 2" x WOF for accent strip.
Our project for 2011 will be to each make a similar quilt using our own choice of fabrics. Starting in January we will begin making a square each month for these quilts. We'll do this through September and we'll finish up the quilts in October for a guild showing at our November meeting. We'll start choosing the square we will do beginning at our Oct 5th work meeting.
This was another fun meeting. Plans are to make them work meetings as well and to sew into the night! There's never enough time to quilt!
P.S. I added the recipe for Robin's Cinnamon Toast Cupcakes to the August section of this blog.
